The
Grand Finale held on 14 November was an unforgettable party. The party
brought together the Pro-Chancellor Dr the Hon Sir Sze-Yuen Chung,
Council Chairman Dr John Chan, Founding President Prof Chia-Wei Woo
and President Prof Paul Chu together with 11 Honorary Guests. Following
a cake-cutting ceremony and a champagne toast, the guests passed 15
torches of "HKUST spirit" to the attendents of the party.
The Founding President Prof Chia-wei Woo and the President Prof Paul
Chu both delivered their message of encouragement.
An operatic performance by the Council Chairman and
an ice-cream-making show by the President highlighted the party.
The Council Chairman, Dr John Chan performed a Cantonese opera classic
with English lyrics and an adapted theme on “education”.
President Chu in a nice-looking chef outfit busily made ice-cream
with the “low temperature” technology. Guests were also
greatly entertained by the lively dance and music numbers from the
international, mainland and local students.
