Three community leaders have been appointed Members of the University Court, the University's top advisory body, while 12 social elites have been appointed Honorary Members of the University Court, effective on 1 May. On behalf of the University, Genesis welcomes them to UST.
     
     
Mrs Alice Chiu Tsang Hok-Wan, JP
Mrs Alice Chiu is Director of Henyep Development (Holdings) Limited, one of the most established financial services and investment management companies in Hong Kong. She founded the Sheen Hok Charitable Foundation in 1994, which has helped over 100 organizations both in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, and is an active supporter of local education development. In 1989, when the Yan Chai Hospital established its third primary school, it was named in honor of Mrs Chiu. Mrs Chiu also actively participates in various community services. She is the Fund Raising Chairman of Operation Smile, President of Hong Kong Marrow Match Foundation, Founding Fund Raising Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong AIDS Foundation, and Member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority Appeal Panel.
   
Mr Simon Kwok Siu-Ming
Mr Simon Kwok is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sa Sa International Holdings Limited. Mr Kwok together with his wife, Eleanor, have run Sa Sa's operations since it was founded in 1978, and listed the Company in Hong Kong in 1997. Sa Sa was the only cosmetics specialty store among the top 10 largest health and beauty specialists in the Asia Pacific region, according to the "Retail Asia-Pacific Top 500" rankings conducted by KPMG and Retail Asia magazine in 2004. Mr Kwok is currently the Honorary President of the Cosmetic & Perfumery Association of Hong Kong and Federation of Beauty Industry (HK), and the Founding Honorary Chairman of The Professional Validation Centre of Hong Kong Business Sector. Mr Kwok was named "Man of the Year 2004" by Hong Kong Business magazine and received the "Hong Kong Business Mastermind" award from East Week magazine.
   
Mr Kenneth Ting Woo-Shou, SBS, JP
Kader Industrial Company Limited Chairman, Mr Kenneth Ting, comes from a family of industrialists. His company is a renowned toys and plastics manufacturer in Hong Kong with business interests spreading all over the world. Mr Ting is well-known for his active role in social services. He currently serves as chairman or honorary president of many public bodies, including the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, the Toys Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Plastics Manufacturers Association. His past service includes appointments as Non-Executive Director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority and Member of the Manpower Development Committee of the Education and Manpower Bureau. He is a former member of the Legislative Council and was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star in 2004 for his public service.
